A new week but still mid-cycle.

After 6 months I can safely say I have finally got into the idea of not thinking weekdays but thinking number days. I am still not sure I like it ... and I honestly dont think it makes a big difference as I still seem to lose the same classes on the holiday mondays the next of which sadly lands in the middle of the easter week. That said its an OK system I guess.

Del boy laptop is now running a lot better I have a 1gb RAM chip and a 512mb RAM chip in, making 1.5gb.. Now I had thought it wouldn't run with mix matched memory but it is, its stable and is working much better.

There has been nothing on the news or on the web about my earth tremor, so I am beginning to think maybe it was me.. This is kind of disconcerting, having the earth move when you are on your own is definitly NOT the way its supposed to happen.

On friday I was teaching in class. It was a good grade 8 class. I was enjoying the lesson and the banter, I had the music on. I was moving around the class interacting with the kids, for one moment my awareness of my surroundings vanished, one of the girls called for me to go see her, I turned, and I discovered that Newtons law of a body in motion will continue in motion until it comes in contact with a non moveable object was painfully true. For me that was the floor... and in a pirouette that would have graced the Bolshoi ballet, I ended up on the floor flat out on my back... Did I hurt myself.. NO, did I dent my pride OH YES !! The kids were great very concerned but all I could do was laugh it off. Making a mental note that the tiled floors with just a little dust on them are lethal and if it can happen to me it could happen to a pupil when they are carrying a saw or any other tool.. It is another reason why 26-28 kids should not be taking part in a technical room the safety issue is just too great. If I had been staying here next year then it would have been an ultimatum, reduce the class size or the kids wont work with any tools. The problem is SMT dont see the dangers and while the school is driven by profit and bums on seats they will continue to turn a blind eye until someone is seriously hurt. My only hope is it doesn't happen during my time and that I take every precaution I can to ensure safety is a consideration not an after the fact excuse.

Tonights rant over ... tomorrow 2 classes First period and Last period and time inbetween to do some personal administration and perhaps plant some more artificial grass on my School map.
