Jeans day is a day where the kids dont wear uniform and the teachers dress down, it happens about once a month and costs 2000 peso if you come out of normal dress. The money goes to funding support for community work. So tomorrow its jeans and a casual shirt... Monday is a big day here as well and in some respects across the world as there will be rallies and demonstrations to support the hundreds of people that have been held by the FARC forces over the last 10 plus years. FARC are seen by the colombian Government as Terrorists and Guerrilas which is part of the problem between Colombia nd Venezuela as Venezuela see the FARC as a revolutionary army. Its been a sticking point between the 2 countries for years. However on Monday all the staff and pupils in the school will wear blue jeans and a white t shirt to show support It will be an interesting day and I will have to make sure the camera is charged up as its an event that wont be see too often with somewhere close to 900 kids all dressed in blue and white walking silently along the main road.
More updates tomorrow and over the weekend.
The short posts are the ongoing result of marking and grading late into the night. fortunately after tomorrow it should be done - I hope. The weekend holds nothing much though a good walk wont go amiss and I might have to revisit the HP computer shop - just out of curiosity you understand... Monday night is also the Embassy Quiz night so a few beers and some crazy questions will fill in the evening nicely.
More updates tomorrow after Jeans Day.
