Its been a nice pleasant Sunday morning I joined 2 other teachers for Breakfast in Usaquen the small village within the city. There is something very civalised about sitting eating sunday breakfast, Omlette, Banana bread and Hot Chocolate, In a quaint little restaurants patio, overlooking a small park, with a very ornate church holding its morning service with people queuing on the pavement outside due to lack of room inside.
The weather here is beautiful, over this weekend and has made being out nice but a little warm in the sun even at 9.30, stepping into the shade is a nice relief.
I even managed to buy a leather "bum-bag" the size and style is excellent and will be really useful for travelling. When you consider it cost the equivalent of £6.50 it is definitly a bargain !! And it will help to do away with the multiple bulges I am used to wearing, since I carry my camera, phone and palm everywhere. More importantly it will make gettign through airport security a bit easier.
I have been looking for some sort of picture I could put on my wall here. The local artisans do some absolutely amazing ones and there is one in particular I would love to have but it is pointless as trying to ship it home would be more trouble than the picture is worth. But today I saw a hanging cloth style which would be perfect, I didn't buy the one I saw as it was a little too ornate and fiddly in its design BUT Marion who teaches at the other quality school the Anglo has a friend who can have them "made up to your personal request" so I hope to organise something next month.
I have really taken to Bogota it is a big city it has its good bits and bad bits but the people and the lifestyle is excellent (as is the weather mostly) if I had been 10 or 20 years younger I would have brought my family here and stayed for a much longer period of time than a year. In the past Bogota had problems, they arn't fully solved but over the next few years Colombia could become a major tourist area if the government can work something out with the FARC, the only downside to that is prices will rocket. So if your reading this and fancy seeing Colombia now is the time to do it.
Having said that I am looking forward to moving on and would be so much happier if I actually knew where I was moving on to. I have opportunities for Dubai and Jordan as previously mentioned and hope over the next few weeks I can get something concrete sorted out. Fingers crossed ...
Sadly now back to normality and I have 5 pairs of trousers to Iron and more marking to do, no rest for the wicked or me... :)
