Its looking like a bad start to the week as I am so busy trying to get all the marking and grades done I keep missing evening posts...
Monday was busy at school but today Tuesday is more critical to me - its my Grade 8 Exams today and I want them to do so well. (Well the ones that have tried anyways)
Anyway back to Monday exam week is actually quite stressful I find myself trying to remember where I should be and when and if you are covering an hour of "revision" read chaotic noise and frustration at getting nothing done.
I started the day with Revision for a grade 6 class before their 0830 exam in English I was due to be replaced at 0830 by another teacher who would then monitor the exam. Around 0820 I began to wonder if I should have picked up the Exam Sheets so getting my technician to cover I dashed to the staffroom to feel relieved there were no exam scripts in my pigeon hole. Back in the class I got the kids organised into their exam places and waited for the teacher to arrive. At 0835 I was beginning to fear the worst No Teacher No exams... I sent for assistance and at 0845 the teacher appeared seemingly totally non plussed and without EXAMS! When I asked she looked confused and said oh am I supposed to have them... I asked her to wait and I raced off to the Staff room 3 floors up and across the other side of the building. Grabbing the exam scripts from HER pigeon hole I raced them back, handed them to her and then LEFT !!!
There was one moment of amusement during the day Diana had her Grade 5 technology exam and I saw one of the papers in it there was a picture of a Pillar Drill and the pupil had to say what it was and what it was used for. In neat text he had written, This is a microscope it is used for looking at molocules !! Some days you really do feel concern for this lads future job role, I do hope he isnt planning on being a doctor.
I was supposed to have a second interview this morning with a school in Jordan in Amman, I had been up since 4am everything was organised and at 05.30 the phone rang, the caller on the other end apologised and asked if they could reschedule as the school was closed due to snow... SNOW !!! For goodness sake its Jordan one of the Middle east countries, 30 minutes from the Dead Sea, Petra the ancient city built into the Mountains...sand, deserts, etc etc Where the hell do they get snow from !! Oh well not to worry I can relax again for a few more days ... till their snow goes away and the schools go back! Of course that doesn't help me get over the fact I have been up from 4am!
OK Grade 8 update later tonight assuming I remember and that I havent fallen asleep.
