Really glad its the weekend

Today started as every day does DAWN broke and the light appeared. Oh and my new projection alarm clock would have woke me if the daylight hadn't already succeeded. Projection alarm clocks are definitly good I can now lie in bed open 1 eye and see the time displayed on the ceiling in 6 inch high numbers with a sexy red glow.. I know easily amused.

I taught for 6 straight hours non stop today Diana wasn't feeling great so I picked up 2 of her classes plus 4 of my own classes. In truth it wasn't that bad but I was totally tired out at the end of the day, which is why I am so glad its the weekend it already seems like ages since I was in Villa de Leyva but this weekend I am going to explore a little more of Bogota as well as get my Exito fix.. I really missed my favourite store walk last weekend.

Still no information on my contract so its going to be a fretful week next week as I want an answer and Tuesday is the day I start shaking the bars.

Over the last few days I showed the kids Google Sketchup as a CAD way of creating their "shop" I am amazed how quickly they have taken to the package and how interesting their design ideas come together in a 3d visual environment. One group I had watched struggle with the motivation to do any paper based work seemed fascinated with the ICT approach and immediately started being creative. I really need to look into this as an option of designing as it is obviously an area the kids enjoy and can produce in. Only problem now is I need to learn a lot more about sketch up before the next class as some of the things the kids wanted to do like applying their own skins to their 3d object had me trying to figure out the best approach.

The school newspaper came out today I was interviewed earlier in the year so today in glorious technicolour and print was the Steve Kay interview, of course in it I had said I was only going to be here for the year, so my grade 8 classes today both asked if that was true, didn't I like Colombia ? and of course who would they get next year, I explained I liked Colombia but I wanted to see other schools and ways of educating and that hopefully next year there would be a new teacher to take over which got a unanimous groan and an unexpected "but we like you" made me feel good and I guess maybe my shouting and roaring isn't as bad as I sometimes think.

Heres to a good, quiet and relaxing weekend.
