Draining Day

Something that I didn't consider with regard to the kids is how drained I would be at the end of a day. They really do suck every single morsal out of you, its lovely but means when you get back to your flat all you want to do is relax.(Whatever happened to Siesta !!) The Spanish brought a lot of things to Colombia when they invaded you'd have thought they might have brought Siesta TOO !!!

Today started badly when the school bus didn't appear. Apparantly it had broken down but that left 4 teachers stranded as well as the kids it should pick up. After an hour of waiting we managed to hail a taxi, Taxi's are like the proverbial rocking horse sh*t in the morning, so getting one was a huge plus and got us into school only 15 minutes late. At least tomorrow my new found colleagues have offered me a lift in meaning I will actually get there before the kids that will be a good start to the day. (Remembering that you can't drive your car every day due to the Colombian traffic Laws.)

I was also asked today what happened to my Laundry after the conversation with the laundry lady last week - the good news is that I managed to get it home though anyone passing me in the street probably thought I was homeless with a suitcase in one hand and a Plastic bag full of clothes in another. I could almost hear the locals going look, there is another gringo without a home to go to. The bad news is I have almost refilled my bag and will need to return to the laundry shop again soon. (Without suitcase this time).

Tomorrow is Day 6 of the six day cycle we teach here, though to be honest I haven't a clue what day of the week it is anymore.. I need a calendar that will be tonights task.
