Why are meetings so LONG!

Today is Wednesday and that makes it the short 45 minute period day, leaving the afternoon free for meetings etc... problem is at the moment the meetings are taken up by SMT cascade of information that takes forever as everyone and everyones uncle wants to say their bit. Now I dont mind a 30 minute meeting even an hour - but two and a half hours of listening to 50% Spanish 50% English makes me think back to my schooling and the inevitable death by viewfoil (Pre multimedia Projector Overhead slides) where slide after slide was put up and read out. We havent really come very far. A close look around showed at least 2 people sleeping ... one wasn't me I was looking around remember (But it sure was close)

Currently I have a department that is struggling a bit due to lack of resources, we have had to chase again today for what should be already here. Even simple things like Masking tape, and Acrylic are still outstanding. as well as 2 sides of A4 papers worth of items - PVA wood glue would be a big help too. So all in there is a lot I could be doing with a couple of hours on a Wednesday afternoon, hopefully soon we will have Department time rather than SMT time.

I do feel a little frustrated the school want this new department to be up and running they promised up to 25 kids per class and I have only 1 class less than 26 and 3 with 27 kids (Bearing in mind all seating etc is organised for 24 kids makes classroom time very noisy and some what chaotic.) We need to organise projects (which are already planned) but even now arn't sure the materials will be here in time to do them. There is so much I want to do ... so much I can see that would be fun and exciting to do and I am treading water and muttering under my breath (For those that know me that last statement about muttering will be seen to be the understatement it was meant to be).
At least the kids have completed their front cover sheets .. some are stunning some arn't but they all tried and they all made an effort, and they all took them home to finish them. Tomorrow I intend to start a crash course on Design, followed by Orthographic,Isometric and One point perspective and finally Rendering that should give the kids enough basic skills to start the first project sometime the week after next. This is Day 6 tomorrow it all starts again at Day 1. Soo why do I feel like its mid week !!!! Will I ever get used to this 6 day cycle...
