WHY ME !

Its called Murphy's Law and is an adage in Western culture that broadly states that things will go wrong in any given situation, if you give them a chance.

What am I refering to ... DEL THE SODDING LAPTOP !!! there I was just settling down to the fact that it was working nicely that it was totally useable that I was even getting to like VISTA !!

Today I took the laptop to school to do some work, only to find the WIFI wouldn't connect. It seems to have disappeared completly almost like someone has removed the wifi card from inside. I checked all the support site info upgraded the BIOS as suggested, tried reinstalling the driver as suggested only to find out that the fault is Hardware and requires a new motherboard and wifi card be fitted, checking the support site and web shows that I am not alone it seems almost every Compaq Presario sold in the last year develops the same problem sooner or later. (The repair would be done under warranty, but it has meant that I would not buy a compaq or hp system now. Which is a shame as they used to have a good name.) Now in UK I would be on the phone shouting and screaming getting it picked up repaired etc etc... But to do that here would be a major problem and also leave me laptopless for 10 to 30 days !!!

I can still use the internet with the laptop hardwired to the modem as it usually is in the flat and since thats where 99% of my access is I am at the point of accepting its going to be a desktop for the next 4 months.

It does of course mean I can start looking at LAPTOPS again !!!
