After 2 months of eating Colombian Food I was invited to a friend of Valeries called Marion, Marion is the archtypical in my view International teacher, A bit like your favourite aunt, always helpful, never stopping and full of the wisdom of the ages, a really nice person. She teaches at the Anglo the other high quality British school in Bogota.
Marion was having some friends around, Dan a Colombian married to Emma an Australian, who brought their pet Nina a stunningly beautiful Siberian Husky... (Dan is studying to be a teacher and Emma is already teaching), Kitty, English and Miguel, Colombian with their two beautiful children Naomi (15months and Sophia about 4 ish I think) and to finish off the group Catherine, Catherine is from England, OK OK she is a scouse but with a wit and humour that had me smiling almost non stop.
The afternoon and evening was full of quips and laughs, Humour is such a strange feeling when you realize that with the life style I live just now, sometimes you miss the interaction of others.
The reason for being at Marions, was to enjoy a curry, but not just one curry but 3 there was a Thai style lemon based one, an Indian style meat one and a vegetable one with a selection of add ons, not forgetting the Arroz ! (Fluffy Rice).
The flavours were amazing the food had taste, each mouthful was heavenly, and suddenly my taste buds were awake... a few minutes before being numbed by the curry - but those minutes were worth every second.
I am also under pressure, the British Embassy are holding a CALEDONIAN NIGHT complete with Scottish Dancing - In UK I would be digging my escape tunnel as I write this but being a Scot in South America - Dare I snub the British Embassy.. This could be the disaster of the year for me and possibly the most amusing post this blog will ever see... Watch this space for the fear and uncertainty as the days get closer.
