Its funny here I am working my ass off late at night to get 240 pupils marks into the school grading system, yet its fine for the school to have us attend the Haloween party, Wednesday meetings and other events. You would think there is something wrong with a system that that doesn't allow time to get grades into the system. Don't get this wrong I don't mind working at home in fact I actually in a perverse way enjoy it,but I do object to not having the choice and having to do it. There will be a meeting on Monday after school between the teachers and board, where the board of Governors want to do away with the teachers October break, and start the school back a week earlier in August. This is after they have already removed a week from Christmas and started the teaching day at 7.30 instead of 8.00 this year. there comes a point where the quality, moral and effectiveness of the staff will be affected and if this goes through I would expect that moment will have arrived. Thankfully because of my 1 year contract I wont be here to witness what I thought was a school moving forward when if this option goes through I feel it may be a school in decline.
Oh well moan over for tonight, I will update after Mondays meeting.
Now on my walk today I thought I'd grab a couple of pictures, the first is known as the Rio Norte (The North River) most of the time its more of a slightly smelly run off. Bearing in mind how built up Bogota is with multi level apartment blocks every so often you come across a quaint and very Spanish looking small house. Imagine the cost to own this one when the ground it stands on could house 6 families in apartment style complexes. Final picture is something you see almost on every street corner, particularly near the small houses. Its not a garden hut but a security hut where the day and night shift private security spend the hours they aren't patrolling keeping out of the rain. The theory is I expect if you can afford a house you can afford the security to keep it safe. More marking tomorrow and then proofing on Monday meaning its all ready to go on Tuesday. Thats the theory....
