So that kind of sums up my days teaching ...
The day started well though the bus was 10 minutes early but didnt get into school till 7,25 so as I arrived in class, my colleague was already sheparding the little darlings in. (She is such a helpful soul! err is that what I really meant to say.. oh well said it now) Every day apart from Wednesdays we do 30 minutes Mentoria (Mentoring - and I am a mentor for a Grade 8 class with 6 boys and 16 girls) The class were doing group work on areas of the Middle Years Program - poster design and I was taking pictures of the work in progress, one of the groups posed for a photo. I am quite lucky the Mentoria group I work with are all really nice kids, some are shy some are not so shy, but all are good and honest kids. Nice to see what appears to be well balanced and hard working kids.
I went shopping after work, needed some odds and ends and toilet rolls, now I have found with the change in diet and fruit etc.. here I am shall we say regular, once a day !! (Sorry I know too much information but you need it for the story honest)So I go into the local supermarket and the smallest pack of toilet rolls I can buy is a Pack of 12 - this equates to a years supply for me I think !!! Coming back into the apartment I decided to pass a few words of conversation with my Security guy, so I showed him the bags from the supermarket and explained that in "Eenglese" this was shopping and what should I call it in Spanish .. he thought for a moment then mumbled something like Trabajo - Now I know thats "work" so I tried again but he said the same thing or so it sounded, so we laughed, agreed and I went into my flat. What I havent considered is that what he actually saw were 12 rolls of toilet paper and was telling me something like "Please dont block the Loo!!" Oh well least my spanish is increasing slowly I learned today on the bus that "Pare Aqui" means "stop here", unfortunately I learned this 200 yards after where I wanted off but its a start. Manyana
