Toss the Coin - Heads its a good day Tails.......

It follows that every bad day has a good day just after it and this was proven today. I enjoyed working with the classes today the kids were experimenting with design and all the classes put in a lot of effort. I also found through the TES website an excellent free program to print out large scale posters if you look at the various posters in the room photo's you can see the effect, the site is called www.blockposter.com well worth going to .. totally free and easy to use just follow the on screen prompts. No Technology Department should be without it.

Of course the classes today were all Grade 8, and all 22-23 pupils so they are more mature, and the smaller class size helps a lot.

The kids are working on their Box designs both Aesthetic and Functional approaches, we have a few more lessons on this, then it'll be onto working in wood for the tangram puzzle before tackling a real world use for design by getting the kids to design an educational teaching aid using either cams, pop up, jigsaw, or some other form of aid that could be used by the Primary classes to help teach Literacy or Numeracy. This will be an open ended project where groups will have to research and plan their own individual workloads with no teacher driven content other than support and assistance. I envisage it as a full design cycle with a presentation given at the end. Each group working with a different Primary Class. It will either be amazing or amazingly disasterous so its worth continuing to read the blog just to see what happens. I know I can't wait.
