So there I was yesterday having this wonderful day where I got everything I needed to do, done... and today I had 4 classes.... well so I thought till I walked in and found I had picked up Diana's SinBin duty Period 1 and then her Period 5 class - so from having NO classes yesterday I had 6 hours solid today while Diana went off to babysit Grade 9 visiting a theme park on the pretense of looking at the rides from a PHYSICS point of view...I MEAN COME ON!!
That said I had a great day teaching - as part of planning I was teaching FLOW CHARTS and GANTT CHARTS - I had set up a simple example on the board It said START, IS MR KAY TEACHING (Y-N), COUNT TO 10, CLAP LOUDLY,END so I explained each stage with exagerrated actions until the Clap Loudly and then asked the class what should happen most shouted out clap loudly but I ignored it cupping my hand to my ear - soon one then two, then they all got the idea and started clapping - which allowed me to stand at the front taking a bow.... The kids were in hystrics and the technician was seen walking away shaking his head at the lunatic Scottish teacher - But you have to feel its these moments that make teaching so enjoyable. And I am sure the kids will remember flow charts far better than a dull dry lesson.
Learning is FUN... if you remember to make it fun.
