Dinner Plates don't Bounce.

Today I tried out the physics of crockery.

It was not intentional it was a mistake where I washed out an oily pot and forgot there was a plate in the bowl, needless to say I then grabbed the plate, and as soon as it was out of the water, it took on the properties of a liquid and no matter how much I juggled, grabbed and twisted to catch it, the plate performed a couple 180 turns before hitting the tiled floor. In slow motion as I watched it getting closer and closer to the floor and further and further from my hands I had that moment of inspiration... Maybe it'll bounce... needless to say it didn't and instead of settling peacefully on the floor it proceeded to disintigrate into dozens of pieces.

The rest of the day was taken up with going for the usual Sunday walk, except when I reached the Hacienda Shopping Centre for a coffee I found almost everywhere was closed... It was almost like it was a holiday (Though I hadn't heard of any holidays being advertised.) So instead I had to make my way back stopping at the Juan Valdez cafe for a coffee before heading back to the flat.

Today I also had a cleaning splurge... My cooker is hardly ever used, as I use a mini oven for everything I cook.. BUT you would never have known it. The cooker top was gross. I was seriously embarrassed. Out came the Flash !! and a scrubber pad and 20 minutes later I have what looks like a new cooker. The trouble was having gone that far for something I dont cook on, I felt I had to do the same with my mini oven - Its pretty safe to say I am surprised I have not contracted food poisoning - Now I have cleaned it I probably will of course.

The big problem with cleaning is once you start you keep finding something else that needs doing.. In a very early post I mentioned that in the kitchen I have a wash board style basin area which the "maid" is supposed to use. Since I dont have a maid and I dont use it, and its round the corner out of sight I rarely look at it. Until today of course ... needless to say it is now a nice clean looking cream colour rather than the mucky brown colour it had become.

So there we go I feel better as the flat or at least the kitchen is cleaner. And with a peaceful and non internet day until later at night I actually feel I achieved some things today that normally get forgotton about.

Tomorrow its back to work.. It is either a good day (All Grade 8) or a bad day (All grade 6) so further updates tomorrow, the excitement is almost too much to bear.

Night all.
