Wish it wasn't Friday

Some days you spend wishing for Friday to arrive and here I am wishing it wasn't.

I could use another week to get about and around Bogota a bit more. Its certainly been worthwhile though, as I have seen a lot more of the city, the sights and the smells!! of South America, there is something quite heady about the freshly cooked smell of Arepas and Empanadas, especially in the Plaza Jiminez. Named after one of Colombias heroes, BUT of course thats nicely coloured by Martha telling me that 2 or so years ago it was probably the most dangerous area of Bogota around, but of course that was 2 years ago the Bogota I see today appears much safer on the surface, yes it was busy but everyone seemed to be doing their own thing, as it turns out there is a trans millenio stop right at the Gold Museum from a branch line you can use direct off the main line at no extra cost, So having seen the Plaza del Jiminez I might just give it a miss the next time.

I still want to go up to Monserrat which is a church on the very highest peak around Bogota but of course I also suffer from vertigo and heights do me NO good so the desire to go is heavily tempered with a feeling of uncertainty... I get dizzy standing on a chair. Close to the area where you can get the train or cable car to Monserrat is the Quinto (Large house bit like a Villa) that belonged to Simon Bolivar which is apparantly worth visiting, so maybe one of the upcoming Saturdays if I feel like an adventure. Might be able to coax one of my colleagues into a visit company certainly makes the journey a little less stressful.
Today I took it easy a short walk to the Hacienda shopping centre to buy a new thermal mug after I broke the handle and lid of the other one trying not to juggle it over a tiled floor (did I mention I can't juggle) hence the need for a new mug. The local shop I had bought it from had about 30 on display the day I bought mine then they had none, so a quick wander for what is probably about 3 miles !! to the Hacienda and into the store they have there.. scanning the shelves I see the standard tall, small based thermals and beside them all on its own ONE blue squat perfectly designed Thermal Mug - I bought it, in truth if they had had 2 I would have bought both.(and if someone had reached it before me I would have been in Bogota jail for Mugging as no way was that mug anyones but mine. Sad I know.

Did manage to do some other shopping today, which was good, one or two small things less on my to do list and before it rained... It did more than rain as you can see from the picture below live from Bogota at 6:35 at night.
