Its a national holiday, so a lot of small stores are shut but the bigger ones are open like the Hacienda and the Unicentro but I had been told of another just a couple of blocks further on called Santa Ana so I decided since it was a nice day I'd go for a walk and have a look. I had a nice surprise as I made my way up to the road nine, all the roads have numbers here so I my address is 140 - 12 - 96 which translates as the cross roads between the 140 and the 12 and 96 metres along. (in truth I am right on the corner of the 142 and the 12 but you can't have negative numbers) This system works really well once you get used to it, the closer I get to the mountains the lower the number 12, 11, 10, NINE etc ... the further away the higher the number 12,13,14 etc... and of course I live on the 140 that points at the mountains so if I go to the left the numbers go up 140, 141, 142 etc... and to the right they go down 140, 139 138 etc etc.... Anyways back to the NINE because its a holiday the 9 is closed to traffic and is inundated with cyclists and walkers. The 9 goes literally right to the Shopping Centre I was heading for so it was really nice to walk amongst all the other people out for a walk around the city stopping at the Shopping centre then doing the walk in reverse. While out I bought a 2 bar electric fire (Now you may be wondering why on earth I would buy an electric fire 4 degrees off the equator.) I have to admit when its raining and at night the temperature does drop a bit so will be useful BUT the main reason was to test out Line bending Plastic !!!! I intend to do a clock project with the kids based on Pre Colombian Art
The Influence for the Clock

But so far the maintenance people havent been able to come up with a suitable contraption to heat acrylic along a line... BUT my ceramic 2 bar fire does as I just did a test and here is the first attempt without any form of jig so its a little unsteady but that aside.. I have the technology (Oh and also a clock that tells the time) Its still pretty rough needs a bit of finishing but I wanted to try to get the idea across. It will look perfect before the kids see it.
