Hey Gringo %^$£&£ You

Well today was enjoyable, looked like rain so I dressed for it naturally it then didn't rain at all.
My plan for today was to try to find the National Museum, now remembering I had seen it once from the outside in my first few days here I was hopeful but not convinced.
Checking the web told me it was on Calle 26 and checking my trans millenio map the F14 Bus would stop there, bargain ... off I set.
Picture 1 The outside of my Apartment block if you look at the 2nd floor up The net covered windows are all mine.

As you will see looking along the AutoPista to the south, what you can see is the Trans Millenio station and the area blocked off for their use. Certainly makes moving around Bogota faster as long as you dont mind standing... seats are at a premium.

The round building you can see is the original Bull fighting ring, and it was while passing this that I found that english swear words travel well. Just before taking the picture I was about to pass a lady (I amm being a little generous) who had seen better days, her opening foray was "Senor Senor Senor" which of course I ignored this was followed with a second round of "Senor Senor Senor" This time I launched in to my by now pat phrase "Senoria, No Hablo Espanol " of course telling someone you dont speak Spanish in Spanish wasn't perhaps a good idea, and as she stopped to take in the information and I moved on I heard the plaintive shout from behind "Hey Gringo %&$%&£! You"

My sense of Direction said I should be close to the National Museum, but on passing the Bullring I didnt find it and I knew it was a big place so I decided to head back down towards the main street area. This picture was taken half way down it was quite a steep road.

The National Museum used to be a Prison - Though you'd never guess, Inside every passage way has huge iron gates, certainly adds to the atmosphere.

This picture is the typical mid day traffic this is the auto pista and as you can see its bumper to bumper.

Finally a well deserved coffee and croisant at my personal Juan Valdes cafe .....
