First day Teaching pupils.

I was a little apprehensive about the first class having little forward knowledge of the pupils, their backgrounds, any medical conditions etc etc ... and it was the equivalent of a 2nd Year class terrors in UK but what would I get here?
What I got shocked me in walked 24 very well behaved, very polite, and with a level of english that would put many of Scotlands 2nd years to shame.
Every one wore school uniform, no where, were there any baseball caps, piercings, mp3 players, or trackies.
The kids were friendly happy and no one needed to go to the bathroom through the whole period !!!
Its early days I know and this was my first class but I enjoyed teaching with a complete freedom and the kids responded wonderfully. They even seemed to have little or no difficulty with my scottish drawl.
If this is what teaching is like here, with interested willing and creative kids then Colombia is doing something right at this level. The school may have some problems between administration and teaching areas but it has not affected the kids and the Staff from the Head down should be rightfully proud of the way they are bringing education to these pupils.

I have been waiting for a positive feeling since I got here - something that said this is why you came - today I found it. Hopefully tomorrow will bemore of the same.
