After that we were to report to our department heads (Not easy when you don't have one) and took a few minutes to decide who technology should come under - eventually ICT seemed to be the winning department and so we went to see them. Unfortunately although we knew where we were going ICT knew nothing about us and we spent a good hour going through the basics of why we were there and what we were doing.
After that it was time to go see our department (or at least the 2 classrooms) I had spent hours and hours over the last months organising equipment and tools for. About 3 months ago I asked one of the teachers here to send me some pics of the deppartment which he kindly did, so I was expecting to see a big difference when we went in.
Unfortunately as you can see from the photo's the rooms are still a dumping ground, we then tried to hunt down whether the equipment tools and drawing equipment had arrived and were told maybe, if they weren't ordered they would be soon. Bearing in mind we are trying to organise a new department there will be nothing happening tomorrow and then we are away Friday & Saturday and off Sunday so next time after tomorrow we will know if we have the rooms set up and the tools and equipment to do the job will be Monday the day before the pupils are due in. I have to admit I am not happy I am here to do a job but I can only do that if the support is there and in place. Currently I cannot see the classrooms being ready for Tuesday but I wait to be surprised. Manyana...
The attached video is outside the school main entrance, if you watch closely as the camera pans you will see a few of my colleagues sitting the one waving is Dave an Australian maths teacher - nice bloke for an Aussie (Sorry Dave couldn't resist it)
